Justin Kapke averaged 71 strokes, matching him for best in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in the first two league rounds, leading to his selection as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Male Student-Athlete Spotlight.
Kapke, a first-year golfer at Albion College from Canton, Mich., who prepped at Plymouth High School, shot a 2-under 69 to finish as the medalist of the Sept. 19 round at Adrian's Lenawee Country Club. He eagled the first hole – a par five – and that set the tone for the day. He also scored four birdies on the day.
He finished ninth in the Sept. 23 jamboree at Alma's Pine River Country Club, finishing with a 1-over 73.
Other nominees included: cross country runner Andrew Bill and football running back Zach Serzo.
