SAAC Puts Wrap On Fall Semester Service Activities

A shopping project that began the day after Thanksgiving was literally wrapped up on the final day of fall semester classes at Albion College as members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee reading the gifts they purchased for 27 families in Albion and Homer.

The SAAC raised $1,500 through fundraising events, including the Dec. 1 Winter Carnival, and a NCAA grant for service projects.

“The effort of providing gifts for families is a good start for what SAAC is trying to do in building a relationship with the community,” Jalyn Ingalls, who recently began her term as SAAC president, said. “I wish I could see the smile on the children’s faces when they see the presents. They deserve a great Christmas and I hope our effort makes that come true for these families.”

Albion student-athletes completed a number of service projects during the fall semester as women’s cross country runners planted along the Kalamazoo River trail in Albion and members of the football team pooled funds to purchase Thanksgiving dinner for a pair of needy families.
