Britons Baseball falls on opening day

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Albion College had runners on base in the late innings, but Drew Olszewski was the only one to score in a 4-1 loss to Franklin College on the opening day of the baseball season.

Franklin got the runs it needed in the second inning as Alex Mis slugged a solo shot over the left field fence and Quenton Wellington added a RBI single scoring Drew Naumovich.

The Grizzlies padded the lead in the sixth as Wellington's single drove in two runs.

Olszewski scored in the seventh, scooting around the bases on a groundout and when Riley Stesiak reached on an error. Olszewski scored on a wild pitch.

Dylan Perry hit a one-out single in the eighth and Sean Haddlesey led off the ninth with a single, but Albion was unable to score.

Albion collected five hits on the day. Matt Bur led the way with two hits.

The teams will return to McDowell Field tomorrow at noon for a doubleheader to complete the three-game series.
