It was a near-perfect weekend for junior teammates Marjori Boldt and Ashley Butler as they rode winning streaks in their respective divisions to team and individual titles for the Albion College hunt seat team at the Michigan State University doubleheader Nov. 19 and 20.
Boldt's back-to-back wins in her over fences and flat classes carried her to the individual title on Saturday and Butler dominated the novice division with a win over fences on Saturday and a clean sweep of her flat sections. Both riders' point tallies were part of a dominant performance by the Britons on Saturday, which saw them take first in five of the seven events en route to the overall team title.
The domination wasn't to last with every other team in the region aiming for Albion on Sunday, but it managed to secure a fourth place finish during the second half of the doubleheader to keep the Britons near the top of the overall standings going into the semester break.
Other notable performances came from senior team captain Cayla Dupuis, who kept her Cacchione Cup dream alive with a win over fences and solid performances on the flat, and first-year rider Jordan Marmul, who added more points to her rookie year tally with a win over fences and top three finishes in both of her flat sections. Sydney Rudowski, also in her first year of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition, bolstered the Britons at novice level with a third and second on the flat.
Briton hunt seat resumes action at the University of Michigan with another doubleheader on Jan. 28 and 29.
