Maturing Process Continues

ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College football team took another step in its maturation process Saturday as it overcame two turnovers and a halftime deficit to subdue Trine University, 41-27, in front of a sundrenched Homecoming crowd at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Zach Brewer hauled in touchdown passes of 14 and 25 yards as Albion built a 13-0 lead a minute and a half into the second quarter.

An interception ended Albion's fourth possession and that swung the momentum in Trine's favor. Taking over near midfield, Trine needed six plays to score its first touchdown. Richard Gunn went the final yard for the touchdown. Trine held a 14-13 halftime lead as Gunn added a 21-yard touchdown run on the Thunder's next possession.

Trine extended the lead to 17-13 when Tyler Keck kicked a 35-yard field goal to complete the first drive of the second half.

Albion displayed the resolve to comeback as it scored touchdowns on its next four possessions. Cody Crawford hauled in touchdown passes of 1 and 53 yards, Colin Parks ripped off a 66-yard run, and Darrin Williams capped the scoring with an 18-yard run.
