Albion College student-athletes claimed two of the three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Player of the Week awards in the wake of the Britons' 42-28 victory over Olivet College last Saturday.
Darrin Williams, a senior running back from Detroit, was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a career-high 211 yards on 34 carries. The Martin Luther King High School product scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter to tie the score at 14 and his 53-yard run late in the fourth quarter was the final scoring play of the day.
Williams is averaging a shade more than 137 rushing yards in four games against MIAA rivals this season.
Brett McCarty, a senior linebacker from Alto, was named the Defensive Player of the Week after making 10 solo and 14 assisted tackles against the Comets. The Caledonia High School product is receiving the award for the first time in his career.
Albion, winners of four straight to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 against MIAA rivals, has a can clinch a share of the MIAA title with a victory at Adrian College on Saturday.
