MARSHALL, Mich. – The Albion College men's golf team move up one spot in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings today at The Medalist Golf Clubas they passed Adrian College for fifth overall.
Playing in the third of six MIAA rounds of the fall season, Connor Maddalena posted another solid round during his senior season with a 74.
Sophomore Jake Hinkle produced another fine round to his young career with a 77. With four good scores today, the Britons came in with a team score of 317. Contributing to the team were Justin Leeds (82) and Jim Chapman (84).
Looking forward to the Monday MIAA jamboree hosted by Calvin College, the Britons are lurking ahead for the fourth position to get them qualified for the spring. Other Britons on the course were Nick Leeman with an 83 and Ryan Bomya with an 86.
"While we still have to do to catch the top teams in the league, we are happy to move up one place in the MIAA standings (passing Adrian for fifth place overall). With fourth place being our next step, we have to get after it Monday at Watermark Country Club, "Head Coach Jordan McArleton said.
"Overall, lots of positives to take away from today," McArleton said. "Particularly, my top two players played well today."
Sophomore Josh Gibson from Hope College was the low-man today as he came in with an impressive 4-under par 68.
