PONTIAC, Mich. – Albion didn't overlook a Defiance team playing its first match at the varsity level Saturday. The Britons dominated from the start in earning a 31-0 victory, their most decisive victory in four years as a varsity program.
Dan Genord scored 19 seconds into the contest and the rout was on. Cameron Braun, Alexander Dziewit, and Kevin O'Grady added tallies as Albion led 4-0 with less than five minutes off the clock. Genord tacked on another score as Albion held a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.
Albion scored 12 times in the second quarter, six goals in the third, and eight in the fourth.
Genord finished with seven goals. Dylan Neal produced four goals. Tyler Kilpatrick and Mitch Loney scored their first three goals of the season. Tim Urso tacked on two goals and five assists. Braun and Dziewit each had two goals and two assists, while Joe Braley chipped in with two goals and an assist.
Albion's first outdoor match is scheduled for March 2 when it challenges the College of Wooster.
