ALBION, Mich. – The College of Wooster outscored Albion College, 8-4, in the second half to send the Britons to a 12-5 loss in their first game of the season at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
Albion ripped 27 of its 43 shots in the first half, but only placed eight on goal. Dan Genord cut the Britons' deficit to 2-1 with an extra-man goal with 2 ½ minutes left in the first quarter.
Wooster scored on four of its 10 shots on goal in the first half. Evan Albertson and PJ Dallman scored in the first quarter, and Matt Ranck and Mike Ewanecko struck in the second.
Joel Hedemark gave Albion a boost 3 ½ minutes into the third quarter by scoring his fourth goal of the season to cut the deficit to 4-2. That was as close as Albion would get, however, as Ranck, Pat Henderson, and Albertson scored as the Scots extended the margin to 7-3 at the end of three quarters.
Alexander Dziewit and Hedemark scored two goals apiece for Albion in the second half.
Albion, 2-2 on the season, will play at home again Wednesday when it challenges Oberlin College. The face-off is set for 6 p.m. at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
