ALBION, Mich. – Albion College Head Coach Jake DeCola said his team met all its objectives in scoring a 22-4 victory over Alma College at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium Wednesday night.
"In a game like this I think the best thing you can hope for is for us to be prepared, go hard, get the game decided and get some young people out there," DeCola said.
The victory, Albion's sixth in a row, sets up a Saturday showdown with Adrian College for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship and the No. 1 seed for next week's league tournament.
Zach Hubbell scored 49 seconds into the first quarter, and Dylan Neal, Tim Urso, and Tyler Kilpatrick added goals as Albion seized a 4-0 lead 4 ½ minutes in. Urso, Cameron Braun, and Daniel Kaminski tacked on scores in the final four minutes as Albion extended the margin to 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Hubbell scored three goals, Urso produced a goal and an assist, and Dominic Hamper dished out three assists as Albion pulled away to a 15-0 halftime lead.
Albion goalkeeper Kyle Formanczyk, who entered ranked second in Division III statistics for save percentage, stopped the four shots he faced.
