ALBION, Mich. – Albion College faces a must-win situation at Kalamazoo College Saturday night to advance to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournament.
That much was determined after the Britons absorbed a 4-1 setback to 20th-ranked Calvin College at the Davis Athletic Complex Wednesday night.
Albion got Calvin's attention as Erik Vanfossen scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season 10 minutes into the match. Bobby Budlong, one of eight Albion seniors playing in his final home match, was credited with the assist.
The goal held up as Albion led at halftime.
Bobby McCaw produced two goals and Matt Hinds had a goal and an assist as Calvin controlled the second half. The Knights held a 9-2 advantage in shots in the second half and finished the night with a 14-6 edge.
Kickoff for the Saturday night game at Kalamazoo is 7 p.m.
