Britons Bounced From MIAA Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Steven Lockhart scored a goal in his final collegiate match, but Albion College was bounced from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournament with a 7-1 loss to league champion Calvin College.

Lockhart propelled Albion to the early lead with a shot in the box 2:05 into the contest. Colin Howard was credited with the assist on the play.

Calvin scored the equalizer 10 ½ minutes into the contest as Mitch Stark finished a crossing pass from Bobby McCaw.

Albion generated more scoring chances as Erik Vanfossen forced Calvin goalkeeper Nate Van Ryn to make three saves.

Ian Adams and Trent Vegter scored 4 ½ minutes apart as Calvin seized a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half.

Albion had one more quality scoring chance late in the first half, but Kyle Johnson shot wide when it looked like he had an opportunity at a wide open net.

Adams produced his second goal of the day, McCaw tacked on a goal and Dillon Weldy added a goal and assist in the second half as Calvin pulled away.

Albion finished the season 9-10 overall.
