OLIVET, Mich. - Albion College clearly was the aggressor in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer match at Olivet College Wednesday, finishing with a 19-11 edge in shots, but the Britons needed a Will Colborn goal to walk off the field with a 1-1 draw.
Albion had a good scoring chance in the final minute of the first half. Ian Yetzke earned a corner kick when his blast was punched over the goal by Olivet goalkeeper Justin Lavin.
Olivet took the lead when David Magallon scored with 4:50 left in regulation.
Albion got the equalizer 90 seconds later on Colborn's first goal of the season.
Albion pressed for the game winner in the final minute of regulation, but two shots by Joel Zaretti and another by Colborn were all blocked.
Albion's best scoring chance in overtime came from a corner kick in the 93rd minute. Aaron Smit's initial shot was blocked and the second hit the crossbar.
Albion (4-3-2 overall and 1-3-1 against MIAA rivals) returns home Saturday for a noon match against Kalamazoo College.
