Like waves in the pool, good news continued to roll in for the Albion College swimming & diving program Wednesday morning.
Fresh off taking down Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Calvin College in a dual meet last Saturday, the Briton teams are ranked in the latest Division III poll released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. It's believed to be the first time the men's and women's squads are ranked simultaneously.
The men's squad moved up five spots – to No. 15 – after scoring a 158-142 victory over the Calvin College squad that checked in at No. 19 in the survey released today.
The women's squad moved in at No. 21 after eking out a 151-147 victory over the Knights, now ranked 20th.
"Our teams are in a very good spot right now both mentally and physically," Head Coach Jake Taber said. "We believe we can compete at a high level and be disciplined with our own racing strategies. It's an exciting time to be a Briton, at the same time, our focus has been and will continue to be on the MIAA Championships in February."
Albion's swimmers and divers will get a preview of the venue hosting the MIAA Championship on Saturday when they drive to Holland, Mich., for a dual meet against Hope College. The meet is set for a 1 o'clock start.
