Albion College swimmers Mary Noble and Sebastian Tostado and divers Jake Burris and Marisa DeCamp have been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Athletes of the Week for their performance in the Britons dual meet against Olivet College last Friday.
Noble, a sophomore from Midland who prepped at Dow High School, swam to first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.28 and was a member of the winning team in the 200 medley relay.
Tostado, a senior from Mexico, is earning his third Athlete of the Week award of the season after breaking the Albion pool records in the 200 freestyle (1:41.57) and 100 backstroke (51.6). Tostado owns the MIAA's fastest 200 freestyle time this year, and his mark last Friday was his second-fastest of the season.
Burris, a sophomore from Chelsea, Mich., is claiming his second Athlete of the Week award of the season after scoring 317.10 in the 1-meter event to break his own Albion school record. He was awarded scores of 7 ½ and 8 on his fifth (a forward 1 ½ somersault with a twist) and sixth (a reverse 1 ½ somersault, 1 ½ twist) dives.
Burris later scored 7, 8 ½ and 8 on a forward 2 ½ somersault with a twist to boost his 3-meter score to 334.05, best in the conference this season.
DeCamp, a sophomore from Howell, Mich., was as consistent as she has been all season in gaining first place in the 1- and 3-meter events. Led by her front 2 ½ and front double somersault dives, she achieved a score of 214.20 on 3-meter, and her 1-meter score was 219.89.
Albion's swimmers and divers are preparing for the MIAA Championship meet, which runs from Feb. 15-18 at the Holland Aquatic Center.
