Guindi Selected MIAA Player of the Week For The First Time
Albion College first-year men's tennis player Eric Guindi has been selected to receive the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Week award for the first time in his career, league publicist Greg Chandler announced Wednesday afternoon.
A Plymouth native who prepped at Detroit Catholic Central High School, Guindi earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles and a 8-3 victory with Tucker Blake at No. 1 doubles in Albion's 8-1 win over Adrian College last Saturday.
Guindi has a 4-4 record against opponents at No. 2 doubles this season.
"Eric continues to improve on the court especially in doubles. I'm sure this won't be the last player of the week honor Eric receives in his tennis career at Albion," Albion Coach Keith Turner said.
Albion will play its five remaining regular season league matches during the month of April. The Britons visit Kalamazoo College at 2 p.m. Saturday and they return home for an April 9 match against Alma College.
