GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Ross Kynast and David Richter rallied from a set down to win their respective singles matches as Albion College eked out a 5-4 victory over Calvin College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's tennis match.
It was Albion's first win over Calvin since 2004 as the Britons improved to 8-8 overall and 3-3 against league rivals.
Albion needed to win four singles contests after Eric Guindi and Jonathan Gurnee collected the Britons' only doubles point with an 8-3 win at the top of the lineup. Guindi and Gurnee boast an 8-7 record on the season.
Guindi and Gurnee won their singles matches in straight sets. Kynast was a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 3, while Richter won a long 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 match at No. 4.
