MARION, Ind. – First-year runner Kiehl Smith took on the difficult task of completing the 800 and 1,500 meter events for Albion College in the Polar Bear Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan.
He finished fifth in the 1,500, crossing the finish line in 4:08.37. His 800 time of 1:59.57 was good for eighth, and he helped Albion finish third in the 4x400 relay.
Sophomore Richard Annorat was the runner-up in the high jump (6' 6 ¼"), fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.54) and he helped Albion to fourth place in the 4x100 relay.
Markeese Boyd achieved a personal record when he finished the 400 meters in 51.62. and Jeremy Boyd did likewise in the 400 meters.
Chase Baumgardner, a first-year runner, was seventh in the steeplechase (10:39.77).
Albion will split the squad next weekend, sending the distance runners to a meet hosted by Washington (Mo.) University while the rest of the squad travels to Alma College.
