The Albion College softball program is partnering with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in the effort to raise awareness as well as dollars for research that will one day beat cancer.
For the April 26 doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Calvin College, the Britons do their part to Strikeout Cancer by donning special lavender jerseys to bring awareness to all forms of cancer. Anyone wishing to help the Britons raise funds to be donated to the local cancer alliance can purchase a jersey for $20.
It is best to order jerseys before the event since only a limited number will be available on game day. Contact Head Coach Leigh Ann LaFave-Austin via e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org, to submit an order.
In addition, ribbons in multiple colors representing various forms of cancer will be available for sale at Dempsey Field on game day.
If the Strikeout Cancer event wasn't enough, Albion will also celebrate Community Day. Children will receive a poster and team members will be available for autographs after the doubleheader.
