Albion's Brett de Bear finished second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in scoring for the 2013-2014 season and she was rewarded Tuesday with her selection to the all-league first team.
The senior from Plymouth averaged 18 points a game to finish with 450 points, the second-highest single-season total in the history of the Albion women's basketball program. De Bear's scoring average was boosted by her accuracy from the free throw line. At 86 percent, she was the top shooter in the MIAA.
While scoring was her forte, de Bear contributed throughout the box score. She lead the Britons in steals with 25 and her average of five rebounds per game was third-highest on the team.
"I'm thrilled for Brett's selection to the first team," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said. "It is a well-deserved honor in recognition of the great year she had."
de Bear graduated as the second-leading scorer in the history of the Albion women's basketball program, rolling up 1,249 points in her four years with the Britons.
