Women's Basketball Works In The Community

The Albion College women's basketball team was active in the community during the month of September, assisting at Healthy Babies Day and participating in Albion's Big Read parade.

The Britons participated in Healthy Babies Day – an event with a focus on educating and providing community members with resources to help raise their young ones – at the Albion Opportunity School for the fourth year.

The Big Read parade was the kickoff of a series of events centered on a community reading experience of Charles Portis' 1968 novel True Grit.

"The parade is another great way to get directly involved with the Albion community," Jami Hubbard, a junior who is one of the team representatives to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. "We are thankful to Jess Roberts, English professor and director of Albion's Big Read, for continuing to put on the event and inviting us to be a part of it."

The Britons open the 2017-18 season at Anderson, Ind., University Nov. 15, with the first home game scheduled for Nov. 18 against Defiance, Ohio, College.
