ALBION, Mich. – Allegheny's zone defense forced 28 turnovers as its walked out of Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium with a 19-5 victory over Albion in a non-league women's lacrosse contest.
The Allegheny strategy was to force Albion to attempt long passes. The passes would be difficult to complete on a regular day, but on a cloudy, 31-degree afternoon, the Britons were not able to mount a consistent attack.
Alyssa Glenn buried a free position shot as Albion took the early lead.
Alyssa Rapelje and Kelsey Rodgers combined for five goals as Allegheny forged a 7-1 lead midway through the first half. The Gators went on to lead 11-3 at halftime.
Albion will spend much of spring break enjoying warmer conditions in southern California. While there, the Britons will challenge Whittier and Chapman.
