The Albion women's lacrosse team improved to 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in conference play Saturday afternoon with a 15-7 win over Hope College.
It was a stellar day for the Glenn sisters as Alyssa and Ashley combined for eight goals and seven ground-ball wins. Alyssa's five goals led all scorers, and Ashley led all players with five ground-ball wins.
The Britons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game and tacked on another goal at the 22-minute mark, out-shooting Hope 7-0 and holding possession for all but 11 seconds throughout the eight-minute stretch. But Hope adjusted their game-plan and fought back, tying the game at 5-5 with five minutes remaining in the first half. From there the Britons took over, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead going into half-time.
The domination continued in the second half as the Britons went on a 5-0 run before a goal by Hope's Katie Sabourin — who had three on the day — stopped the bleeding. Emily Oliver, Caren Lee, and Mackenzie Bortell also scored for the Flying Dutch.
The Britons return to the field tomorrow against Southwestern College (Texas). The game is scheduled for 12 p.m.
