Women's Lacrosse Clinches MIAA Tournament Berth

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Albion College scored a 16-6 victory over Saint Mary's College Thursday to clinch a berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Britons, 8-6 overall and 5-2 against league rivals, will likely have the No. 4 seed for the tournament. Albion completes the regular season at Adrian College at noon Saturday and the teams will probably square off again in the semifinal round of the tournament.

Ashley Glenn and Kit Maher each scored twice as Albion went on a six-goal spurt to pull away for a 10-goal lead midway through second half. Glenn finished the day with six goals to bring her season total to 64, four shy of the single-season school-record she set a year ago.

Maher and Kadie Koolwick contributed three goals apiece. It was Maher's first career hat trick and her first multi-goal game since putting two shots in the net in the Britons' April 6 loss to Southwestern (Texas) University.

Alyssa Glenn produced two goals and an assist, Isabel Fontana and Melissa Wilson scored their first goals of the season, and Julie Wood dished out four assists.

Goalkeeper Victoria Della Pia stopped 12 shots.
