Britons Step Forward

SEWANEE, Tenn. – While the scoresheet reports a 23-5 loss to Meredith (N.C.) College, Albion College Head Coach Shanta Loecker could not have been more pleased with the Britons improvement.

"We're learning how to take better care of the ball, which is a solid step forward," Loecker said. "Our turnover rate went down and our clearing percentage doubled. We will continue to improve.

"Give credit to Meredith for playing a clean, composed, smart game for 60 minutes," Loecker added.

Loecker noted Lauren Wiegand and Taylor Nelson were impact players for the Britons on both ends of the field. Wiegand produced three goals, picked up four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Nelson also scooped up four ground balls.

Cait Gaitley and Cassandra Reuschlein chipped in with a goal apiece for Albion.

Albion will remain in Tennessee during spring break as it prepares for a Saturday date with Sewanee.
