OLIVET, Mich. – With a 29-2 victory over Olivet College Friday night, Albion College has done all it can to qualify for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
Albion finished the regular season with a 4-4 record against its MIAA rivals and all it can do now is wait for the result of the Saturday contest between Saint Mary's College and Adrian College. A Saint Mary's win would put Albion, Adrian and Kalamazoo College in a three-way tie for fourth place.
Eight Britons scored goals Friday night, with Cait Gaitley leading the way with eight. Gaitley finished the regular season with 57 goals, tying her for seventh on the Albion single-season list.
Leading 18-2 at halftime, Head Coach Shanta Loecker was pleased how the Britons maintained their focus in the second half.
"The number of assists and caused turnovers was our focus, and I think the team did a good job of making learning their focus throughout the second half," Loecker said, noting Kahl dished out six assists and Nelson had four.
