HOLLAND, Mich. – Caroline Eagan scored in the seventh minute to get Albion College thinking upset, but Hope College rose to the challenge to hand the Britons a 3-1 setback in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer contest.
Albion goalkeeper Mackenzie Hurlburt kept the score close by stopping five of the eight shots she faced. Hope finished the contest with 20 shots, but it did not truly secure the result until Erin Jipping scored with 2 ½ minutes remaining in regulation. Jipping assisted on Nora Kirk's goal in the 69th minute.
Lindsay Lubanski was credited with two of Albion's four shots, but neither was placed on goal. Victoria Montgomery also had a shot on goal for Albion.
Albion will hit the road again Thursday when it travels to mid-Michigan to challenge Alma College.
