Women's Soccer Surge Continues

ANGOLA, Ind. – Jenna Urso, Domenique Sarnecky and Alyssa Brooks scored the goals as the surging Albion College women's soccer team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Trine University, 2-0, to improve to 4-0-1 over its last five contests.

Albion controlled the match from the start as Alex Radzville, Urso and Mikaela Ray all has scoring chances in the first five minutes.

Urso scored her third goal of the season with 44 seconds left in the first half. Molly Hancock slid a pass through the Trine defense and Urso beat Thunder goalkeeper Morgan Sanderson to the ball.

Sarnecky beat the goalkeeper high for her sixth goal of the season in the 59th minute. Kayla Paquette was credited with the assist on the play.

Brooks, a sophomore from Howell, scored her first collegiate goal when her blast from the outside sailed over the goalkeeper with seven minutes left.

Megan Bricely collected two saves to gain Albion's fourth shutout in the last five contests. It was her third shutout of the season.

In the end, shots were 13-4 in favor of Albion.

Albion, 7-6-2 overall and 6-6-1 against its MIAA rivals, has a week until its next contest, an Oct. 26 date at Olivet College.
