Opening Day Shutout Streak Continues

ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College women's soccer team pushed its string of pitching shutouts on opening day to three years Friday as it earned a 4-0 victory over Ohio Northern University.

Albion opened the 2015 season with a 4-0 victory over Anderson (Ind.) University and the 2016 campaign with a 5-0 victory over North Park (Ill.) University.

Supported by Alyssa Brooks, Sarah Castellano, Courtney Lamrouex, Claire Stoddard, Maddie Willerer and Hunter Williams on the back line, senior goalkeeper Maggie Troost needed to collect four saves to gain credit for the 15th clean sheet in her career.

"I'm pleased with everyone, but the backline and Maggie were excellent today," Head Coach Eric Scott said.

Jenna Urso scored twice in the first half. Alex Radzville produced an unassisted score in the first half, and Samantha LaRocca beat four defenders for an unassisted strike in the second half.

"Ohio Northern does a good job of baiting your team into some things when you have the ball," Scott added. "I thought Jenna did great job of finding the right space to get on the ball."

Albion will complete the opening weekend of the season at 3 p.m. Saturday with a home match against John Carroll (Ohio) University.
