Moore Records For Albion Women Swimmers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It will take time to update the Albion College record board inside the Dean Aquatic Center after the performances by the Britons in Friday action of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships.

Anna Moore, a first-year student-athlete from Battle Creek, won the first league title of her career when she completed the 100-yard backstroke in 56.65, a school record. Earlier in the night, Moore finished third in the 100 butterfly in 59.14.

Anna Hargrove improved her school record in the 200 freestyle. She was the runner-up in 1:53.12.

Kylene Slocum provided one of the surprises of the day when she reached the final of the 100 breaststroke. She finished sixth in the final, completing her race in 1:08.86.

Moore, Hargrove, and Slocum joined Sarah Kilbride for a school record in the 200 medley relay. The Britons finished third in 1:46.49.

In consolation heats:

Abby Slager finished first in the 400 IM, followed by Natalie Nichols, Haley DeFeyter and Lauren Pawelec.

Camila Manrique finished first in the 200 freestyle, followed by Molly Blank.

Nichols was third in the 100 breaststroke, followed by Lauren Hall and Claire Wittkowski.

Katie Ferrero was sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Katelyn Killewald and Haley Wallis were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100 backstroke.
