Senior Swimmers Take Center Stage

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College defeated Olivet College, 137-45, Friday to finish the season with a 4-1 record against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals in dual meets.

Kylene Slocum, one of three seniors on the roster, celebrated her final competitive swim in her home pool by setting a pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.87).

Molly Blank and Nicole Manthei, the other two seniors, joined Slocum and Sarah Kilbride in the final event of the night – the 200 freestyle relay. The Britons finished first, achieving a time of 1:45.60.

Kilbride, Katelyn Killewald and Marisa DeCamp finished first in a pair of individual events. Kilbride sprinted to victory in the 50 butterfly (28.27) and 100 freestyle (58.04), Killewald was first to the wall in the 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley and DeCamp won the diving events.

Also gaining first place performances were Megan Harvey in the 500 freestyle, Abigail Slager in the 500 freestyle, Nicky McCann in the 200 backstroke, Mary Noble in the 200 freestyle.

Next up for Albion is the MIAA Championship. The Holland Aquatic Center is the site for the meet which runs Feb. 15-18.
