BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Amanda Weaver launched her final outdoor track & field season with a school-record performance in the steeplechase and Kristin Nelson popped the second-longest triple jump in school history as the Albion College women's track & field team started its spring break in the Southern Invitational.
Weaver, a senior from Marshall, completed her race in 11:35.46 to finish sixth in a field of 20 runners. Victoria Sochor reached a personal best time of 11:59.68 to place ninth in the steeplechase.
Nelson, a senior from Iron Mountain, reached 36' 2 ¾" on her first attempt to finish sixth out of 20 competitors.
Rachel Derocher just missed the 19-minute mark in the 5,000 meters. Her performance of 19:02.65 placed her fourth out of 21 runners.
Ashley Miracle completed her 800-meter run in 2:22.65 to finish 12th out of 49 competitors.
