DEFIANCE, Ohio – Leanne Wegley achieved a meet record in winning the 800 meters and Tyra Thomas-Spratley placed in the top four in the sprinting events to lead Albion College in the Dick Small Invitational.
Wegley completed the 800 in 2:21.26 to win by more than a second over Northwood's Jennifer McKenna.
Thomas-Spratley was third in the 100 (12.97) and fourth in the 200 (26.62). She was joined by Jalysa Bard, Sydney O'Leary and Rhiki Swinton on the 4x100 relay team that achieved a second-place time of 51.87.
Aurora Labatos and Megan Winkler set personal records of 29.72 and 29.84, respectively, in the 200, and Katie Davis set a season-best time of 5:27.69 in the 1500.
Alyssa Wright led Albion in the field events, finishing fourth in the hammer throw with a season-best effort of 135' 8". Swinton also finished fourth in the triple jump at 9.86 meters.
Albion is scheduled to send student-athletes to meets at Washington (Mo.) University and Alma College next weekend.
