MARION, Ind. – Albion College senior Angela Morrison completed her first heptathlon of the outdoor track & field season with 4,349 points, a career-best total which stands sixth-best on the Division III performance list at this point of the season.
In Friday events, she sailed 16' 5 ¾" in the long jump, threw the javelin 82' 9" and achieved a time of 2:29.01 in the 800 meters.
It was the third-longest long jump of Morrison's career, and it produced 75 points more than she earned in her last heptathlon.
She achieved personal records in two events Thursday, clearing the bar in the high jump at 5' 3" and sending the shot put 29' 7 ¼".
Morrison is scheduled to compete in the heptathlon again after the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship in May. Her teammates are scheduled to compete in a meet at Ball State University tomorrow.
