MANCHESTER, Ind. – Stephanie Thurner produced 24 kills as Albion College lost a pair of matches against non-league rivals from the state of Ohio on the second day of the Manchester University Invitational. Ohio Wesleyan University defeated Albion 25-15, 25-21, 25-16 and Denison University defeated Albion 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.
Thurner was especially impressive against Denison, hitting .522 with 13 kills and 1 error in 23 attacks. She also knocked down three blocks against Ohio Wesleyan.
Thurner, who gained a place on the Manchester Invitational all-tournament team, finished the four-match weekend trip with 38 kills.
Caitlin McClorey finished Saturday action with 15 kills.
After playing 12 matches on the road or on neutral sites, Albion is excited for its Tuesday home opener against Hope College. The first serve is set for 6:30 p.m. inside Kresge Gymnasium.
