HOLLAND, Mich. – Stephanie Thurner produced nine kills and three block assists in Albion College's 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 volleyball loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Hope College.
Albion hit .158 with 11 kills and five errors in 38 attempts in the first set, but the Britons cooled off to -.059 in the second set and .030 in the third.
A service error opened the door, and Sarah Feldpausch terminated two points as Hope took control of the first set by scoring four in a row to seize a 14-9 lead. Thurner knocked down a kill as Albion trailed 21-20, but Hope scored the next four points to take the early lead in the match.
Hope continued to roll, scoring the first six points of the second set.
Albion continues league play Saturday morning at 11 with a home match against Olivet College.
