KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Albion College led Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College by two sets Friday night, but the Britons were unable to close out the match.
Kalamazoo defeated Albion in five sets (17-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-10, 15-8).
Albion pounded 38 kills in the first three sets, but the hitting pace slowed to 13 kills and 11 errors in the last two sets.
Stephanie Thurner was Albion's most effective hitter. She hit .324 with 15 kills and four errors in 34 attacks. Setter Ami Milligan dished out 45 assists and collected 16 digs. Libero Moncia Shuk contributed 25 digs and four aces.
Albion will look for a victory over a MIAA rival at 1 o'clock Saturday when it plays host to Alma College inside Kresge Gymnasium.
