Britons Turn Back Saturday Volleyball Rivals

ALBION, Mich. Marie Pregenzer collected 17 kills and 11 blocks as Albion College earned volleyball victories over Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn at Kresge Gymnasium.

Albion d. Kalamazoo 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19

Pregenzer terminated nine points, served up four aces and collected five blocks.

Lauren Outwater (12 kills and 15 digs) and Ami Milligan (37 assists and 12 digs) finished with double-doubles, Taylor Rosenthal terminated 10 points and Rachel Zawodny served up four aces.

Libero Monica Shuk became the fastest Briton to achieve 1,000 career digs with 24 in the match. Stephanie Thurner added two block assists to bring her career total to 187.

Albion d. UM-Dearborn 25-16, 25-16, 25-19

It took the Britons a little more than an hour to dispatch its non-league rival.

Albion committed just one hitting error in the first set to run up a .353 percentage.

Kelsey Gustafson hit .364 with eight kills in 22 attacks. She also knocked down four blocks.

Thurner and Rosenthal added six kills apiece.

"It was a great way to go into the college's fall break," Head Coach Kristin de St. Aubin said. "The team did a great job of executing the game plan and worked hard to control momentum in both matches."

Next up for Albion (13-9 overall and 3-7 against MIAA rivals) is a Wednesday trip to Alma College.
