Britons Secure Winning Season

OLIVET, Mich. – Albion College defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Olivet College (25-23, 29-31, 23-25, 25-13, 15-13) and Grace Bible College (25-13, 25-14, 25-10) as the volleyball team secured a winning record in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

Stephanie Thurner, a senior right side hitter from Caledonia, Mich., collected 19 kills to move her career total to 817.

Monica Shuk, the sophomore libero from Milford, Mich., collected 42 digs to inch closer to the single-season mark she established last season. With 543 digs, she is 23 shy of the figure she amassed last season.

Marie Pregenzer and Lauren Outwater combined on a block and Pregenzer served up her sixth ace of the night as Albion gained a 13-11 lead in the fifth set. Olivet rallied to tie the score at 13, but a service error pushed Albion to match point and the Britons won the match on an attack error.

"Olivet did a great job of challenging our right backs to defend," Albion Head Coach Kristin de St. Aubin said. "We had to make a few adjustments and our team responded."

Thurner terminated 15 points, matching her second-highest total in a match this season. Taylor Rosenthal contributed 12 kills and five blocks assists, Pregenzer finished with 11 kills and six block assists, and setter Ami Milligan achieved her 10th double-double of the season with 42 assists and 22 digs.
