Two Albion College student-athletes – football center Andrew DiFranco and volleyball right side hitter Stephanie Thurner – were voted to the Academic all-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
DiFranco, a senior from Warren, Mich., who prepped at De La Salle High School, is an accounting major who has achieved all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association status twice during his Briton career. He was a second team pick in 2014 and a first team selection in 2015. Concentrating in Albion's Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management, DiFranco interned with Ernst & Young last winter.
Thurner, a senior from Caledonia, Mich., is a biology and mathematics double major who received a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates at Western Washington University's Shannon Point Marine Center. She is treasurer of Albion's chapter of Mortar Board (national senior honor society) and has been inducted into Sigma Xi (science research society).
