The Albion College volleyball team is celebrating a pair of all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association picks for the first time since 2009 after placing senior setter Ami Milligan on the first team and sophomore libero Monica Shuk on the second team.
Milligan, an Alpena, Mich., native who was the Britons most improved player in her first two seasons at the collegiate level, averaged nine assists per set. She was especially strong late in the season, collecting double-doubles in assists and digs in the last seven matches against MIAA rivals. She had 34 assists and 16 digs to propel Albion to a three-set upset of ninth-ranked Hope College and finished her career with 46 assists and 24 digs in a four-set victory over Adrian College.
For the entire season, Milligan dished out 975 assists to finish her career as Albion's all-time leader with 2,899.
Shuk, from Milford, Mich., led the MIAA with 613 digs. She had a memorable finish with season-highs in digs (33) and assists (eight) in the victory over Adrian.
