ADRIAN, Mich. – Marie Pregenzer collected 13 kills and a block assist for Albion College in a three-set (25-17, 27-25, 25-20) loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College.
Monica Shuk served an ace as Albion forged a 6-6 tie in the first set. That's when Adrian took control, with Megan Prsa serving up two aces as part of a five-point spurt for the Bulldogs. Albion never got within four points the rest of the set.
Angela Adams' ace boosted Albion to a 17-11 lead in the second set. The Britons led 20-15 when the Adrian setter was unable to deliver the ball to a hitter. Adrian reeled off the next four points and eventually tied the score at 22. The score was tied four times before Adrian earned the final two points of the set.
Adrian went on a six-point run to build a 7-3 lead in the third set and it never looked back.
Grace VanDorn, Albion's first-year setter, achieved a double-double of 30 assists and 15 digs.
Albion travels to Kalmazoo College Friday and Saturday for non-league matches against Hiram (Ohio) College, Beloit (Wis.) College and Anderson (Ind.) University;
