Matt Arend assumed the athletic director post at Albion
College July 1, 2011.
A native of Bridgman, Mich., Arend had been on staff at Oregon State University since 2002, when he joined the athletic department as director of ticket operations. He moved through increasingly responsible roles in external operations, overseeing marketing and promotion, video operations, sports information, and merchandising. Arend assisted in the development of a donor membership drive and in multimillion-dollar fundraising projects including several new indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
His efforts in advertising and other promotion led to a new record in season ticket sales for the Beaver football program. He also spearheaded expanded television and radio coverage of Oregon State athletics.
Before moving to Oregon State, Arend served as assistant ticket manager at the University of Iowa for two years and as a graduate assistant at Western Michigan University, where he received a master’s in physical education with an emphasis in sport administration. He also earned his bachelor’s degree at Western Michigan.
Arend, his wife, Rachel, have two children.
