Melissa Walton manages day-to-day operations of 10 varsity sports, the athletic training program, and Albion's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She also coordinates the game management operations for all varsity sports at Albion.
Walton brought experience in fitness, management and physical education to Albion. After earning a master's degree in sports administration from Central Michigan University in June of 1998, she went to work as the Chippewas' assistant director of speed, strength and development. From 1998-June 2003, Walton supervised more than 500 student-athletes and student interns, served as the administrator for day-to-day operations and as the major purchasing agent in the department, created and administered conditioning and weight training programs for seven teams, which helped produce eight Mid-American Conference championship teams.
Her experiences as a graduate student at CMU included serving as the assistant director for the 1997 MAC softball and field hockey championships and as an event coordinator for the field hockey and softball programs, where her duties included game day setup, promotions, and the scheduling of workers.
A 1996 graduate of Olivet College, Walton began her professional career as a personal trainer at a club in Marshall, Mich.
