WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Albion College was never able to get a shutdown inning Saturday as it completed its spring break competition with a 14-8 loss to Muskingum (Ohio) University.
Albion scored in five of the nine innings, but Muskingum responded with runs almost every time.
Albion scored in its half of the first, but Muskingum tallied three in the bottom half of the inning. Albion cut the deficit to 3-2 with a run in the top of the second, but the Fighting Muskies answered with three of their own to own a 6-2 lead. Muskingum tacked on two more in the fourth to lead 8-2.
Shane Lindemann, Justin Dennis, Michael Fischbach and Mitch Lasceski produced two hits apiece. Dennis doubled and scored in the first and hit a two-run homerun (his second of the season) in the eighth.
Albion stands at 5-3 as it returns to campus for the second half of the spring semester. On deck for the Britons is a doubleheader at Defiance (Ohio) College next Saturday.
