Kyle Borek finished his first season as assistant coach in 2026.

Borek led a defensive unit that ranked top 30 in Division III in ground balls and saw two players (Logan Bride and Ben Schollett) earn spots on the All-MIAA team.

In the spring of 2026, Borek had the honor of serving as co-head coach for Ireland's U13 boys team at the Heritage Cup hosted by Rider University in New Jersey, an international lacrosse tournament featuring teams from around the world. Team Éire (Ireland) finished the weekend undefeated with a 6-0 record, earning the gold medal.

The opportunity carried special meaning for Borek, as his Irish heritage traces back to his grandfather Frank, who was born in Dublin, Ireland before immigrating to the United States in 1948.

Prior to Albion, Borek last coached in the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach at Davenport University during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He was responsible for the Panthers' defensive structure focused on game planning, film breakdown and individual player development. Before Davenport, Borek worked as a boys varsity assistant coach at Haslett/Williamston High School for two seasons.

Borek is no stranger to the MIAA, as he was a three-year member of the men's lacrosse team at Olivet from 2013-15. A long-stick midfielder and close defenseman, Borek was a two-time second team All-MIAA honoree as he amassed 139 ground balls and 87 caused turnovers over his collegiate career while starting in 43 games.

While at Olivet, Borek was a member of the Alpha Pi Upsilon pre-medical society and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He also attended Oakland University during the 2011-12 academic year and played on the Grizzlies' club lacrosse team. Additionally, his younger sister, Nicole, played soccer at Olivet.

Borek graduated from Olivet in 2015 with a degree in exercise science and biology. The Lansing, Mich., native is also a graduate of Holt High School where he earned a combined eight letters in soccer, hockey and lacrosse. He was named to the Capital Area Activities Conference All-Academic team honor roll every year.
